What are the DTU Roadrunners?
DTU Roadrunners is the team of student following the course ‘Ecocar’, the purpose of which is to build energy effective vehicles and propulsion systems; furthermore we aim to create awareness and perspective for the public energy debate.
The cars participate in the annual Shell Eco-marathon event where we have secured several victories and set quite a few new world records in the Urban Concept class.

How was the DTU Roadrunners formed?
The team was first formed in 2003 after an invitation issued by Danish Shell to DTU, asking whether the University had an interest in representing Denmark in the Eco-marathon. The project came to be very quickly, and with great interest and diligence from the students involved, they succeeded in constructing the car ‘Spirit of Copenhagen’ in just three months. The car was equipped with the groundbreaking and experimental DME-engine.

Of whom do the DTU Roadrunners consist?
Each year the team consists of new students with a few reoccurring elements assigned to special projects. It must be mentioned that Claus Suldrup Nielsen has participated from year one and has gradually become the epitomy of the project, DTU Roadrunners focuses on team spirit and a creative and fun environment where people thrive and ideas are shaped and realized.
The associated professor is Jesper Schramm, other than him is Spencer Sorensen who is involved in the engine construction and Henrik Carlsen who is the leader of the department.

We would like to continue to demonstrate that DTU and its students is in the forefront in the areas of technical mechanics, creativity and moral by completing the Shell Eco-marathon with a top performance and improving upon ourselfs year after year through innovation and technology.
